Filming Day 3

Today Sarah and I planned to film two time-lapses, one on the central motorway in Newcastle and one in Grey Street in Newcastle. We are very satisfied with the motorway traffic shot however on the other hand we are unsure with the shot filmed in Grey Street. Due to the poor focus and angle of the shot we are unlikely to feature this in our final music video and plan to re-shoot another day. However, please find both time-lapses included in a short video included below.

Filming Day 2

10th of November was the second day of filming, this time, without Aidan. Myself and Sarah decided to wake up at 5:45am in order to catch the sunrise on film from the High Level Bridge in Newcastle. We are very pleased with the outcome of this and also filmed a time-lapse of the cars on the Tyne Bridge during sunrise as well as a time-lapse of commuters and shoppers on Grainger Street. Finally, we also filmed the arrival of a metro and a point of view shot out of the metro window when driving across the River Tyne.

Filming Day 1

On Tuesday the 3rd November myself and Sarah arranged to meet with Aidan and begin filming the first few shots for our video. We aimed to film general shots of the man taking in his surroundings, a few point of view shots and we also decided to attempt a shot of lip singing. We filmed from 9 am to 3 pm in the following locations: 

- Back streets in Bill Quay
- An underpass in Bill Quay 
- Outside of the Sage, Gateshead 
- Baltic, Gateshead 
- Newcastle Quayside 
- Ouseburn, Newcastle 

Below is a short montage of some of the best clips we filmed on this day, many of which will feature in our final music video. Some have been adjusted into slow or fast motion as this is how we wish to display them in our video.

I have decided to research this back cover of a digipack by Amiee Mann called 'Lost in Space.' I have chosen this because the track listing is in the top left corner and the image is placed in the bottom half; this is the layout I hope to use on my back cover. I like how the website address is included in the bottom left corner and the record logos are in the bottom right, they are little additions which contribute hugely to the simplistic style. For me, the clearest aspect of this cover is the fact that there is information printed in all for corners; I like this order and structure. Having information in all corners allows the image to feature centrally and have no obvious obstructions, I think this allows the eye to move freely around the page. The text is printed in white on a black or dark blue background, allowing it to stand out and be easy to read and understand. I like how the writing is small; this would often be avoided to ensure easy reading. However, due to the surrounding background being clear solid colour for about 1cm outwards, the text, especially the track listing, is clear, bold and evident - regardless of the small size text.

Rihanna – ‘loud’ from hannahwood88

Digipack Research

I have analysed the digipack for Rihanna's album 'Loud' for one reason - there is a variety of human shot types included: extreme close up, medium and long shots. The digipack I plan to produce will also include a number of human shots from different angles with different shot types, therefore I have analysed this example to potentially gain inspiration and ideas for my own work. Regardless of the fact that Rihanna is a female and our video will feature a male, the same types of shot can be used. I have also decided to analyse the back page of a digipack by Amiee Mann, the dark simplistic style with a single main landscape image is the look I too want to achieve.
My partner Sarah has also analysed two digipacks by Mumford and Sons and Imagine Dragons. We plan to compare our collected research and use each others findings to sculpt our own inspiration to create our final digipacks.

Flatplan - Poster

This is the flatplan for my album promotional poster, I have decided to use the mans face as a centralised object on the page. Just like my research, I hope to merge a city landscape shot of New York into the mans head and shoulders on Photoshop. Text will be in the bottom left corner of the page grouped together.
