Filming Day 8

Today I visited Ground Zero, a touching location, yet one vital to the success of our music video. Midway through the song the lyrics read, ' The names upon the list, for all the ones who gave until they died' Sarah and I decided that during this section we wanted to reference the twin towers terrorist attack. I spent a lot of time filming the memorial fountains and the names printed around the water, I experimented with movement and zoom in order to have various options when we come to edit. I also think that the sun light leaks contribute to the success of some of the shots. On my way too and from downtown New York I filmed parts of the journey, these shots included Times Square, the Empire State building, Madison Square Garden and general congested streets.

Filming Day 7

Today I filmed the majority of my footage in central park. I aimed to film the greenery and natural beauty of the park, skyscrapers through the trees and the overall relaxed atmosphere. I want the footage filmed in New York to seem idyllic; it's where the man aspires to be therefore it must represent perfection. The footage of the John Lennon Memorial in Strawberry Fields, in the clip published below, has the audio included and the track is paused. This is because I think that the singing by the busker is a huge contribution to the atmosphere and there could potentially be a way to incorporate this audio into the final music video track.

Locations:
- Central Park
- Strawberry fields
- Bethesda Fountain

Filming Day 6

Today was my first full day in New York and I filmed a variety of shots, long establishing, close up and panning. I aimed to capture the busy street life in NYC and the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Today I filmed in the following locations:

- Times Square
- 7th Avenue
- Bryant Park

Filming Day 5

Today I flew out to New York City. Both Sarah and I decided it would be a good idea to film the taking off and landing of the plane to include in our video. These clips would represent the thoughts and wishes in the mans head of flying back to his home country. Below is a short montage of these shots filmed at two airports:

- Newcastle Internatinal
- Newark New Jersey

Filming Day 4

Today myself and Sarah arranged to meet with Aidan again to shoot some more shots of him as well as reshooting the time-lapse that didn't go so well earlier in the week. Conveniently, today was also match day so I managed to shoot some shots of the crowd as well as the man walking up to St James' Park (trying to fit in with his new surroundings.)

Locations:
- Northumberland Street, Newcastle
- Pilgrim Street, Newcastle
- Hood Street, Newcastle
- Central Arcade, Newcastle
- Monument
- St James' Park

Below is a montage of some of the best shots we took today. It begins with the time-lapse we re-shot after Tuesday's failed attempt! We decided to change location and use a more zoomed in, lower angle and are very pleased with the results.

Filming Day 3

Today Sarah and I planned to film two time-lapses, one on the central motorway in Newcastle and one in Grey Street in Newcastle. We are very satisfied with the motorway traffic shot however on the other hand we are unsure with the shot filmed in Grey Street. Due to the poor focus and angle of the shot we are unlikely to feature this in our final music video and plan to re-shoot another day. However, please find both time-lapses included in a short video included below.

Filming Day 2

10th of November was the second day of filming, this time, without Aidan. Myself and Sarah decided to wake up at 5:45am in order to catch the sunrise on film from the High Level Bridge in Newcastle. We are very pleased with the outcome of this and also filmed a time-lapse of the cars on the Tyne Bridge during sunrise as well as a time-lapse of commuters and shoppers on Grainger Street. Finally, we also filmed the arrival of a metro and a point of view shot out of the metro window when driving across the River Tyne.

Locations:
- View of Gateshead Quayside from the High Level Bridge in Newcastle
- Tyne Bridge
- Grainger Street
- Monument Metro Station, Newcastle
- A Tyne and Wear Metro

Below is a montage of the shots we filmed today, most, if not all will be featuring in our final music video.

Filming Day 1

On Tuesday the 3rd November myself and Sarah arranged to meet with Aidan and begin filming the first few shots for our video. We aimed to film general shots of the man taking in his surroundings, a few point of view shots and we also decided to attempt a shot of lip singing. We filmed from 9 am to 3 pm in the following locations:

- Back streets in Bill Quay
- An underpass in Bill Quay
- Outside of the Sage, Gateshead
- Baltic, Gateshead
- Newcastle Quayside
- Ouseburn, Newcastle

Below is a short montage of some of the best clips we filmed on this day, many of which will feature in our final music video. Some have been adjusted into slow or fast motion as this is how we wish to display them in our video.
